Otters!

I don't know, really they are just cute.
<--- See. Cute. Go ahead, disagree with me. I dare ya! that's Emmet & Purl Otter

Anywho, I have a question for ya'll...February is the month of L.O.V.E. and what better way to celebrate than with knit hearts! So I think that, for February ya'll should knit some YheartsY and put them in a pretty jar like over at a Friend to Knit With (a blog I stalk). And like she says (and I concur) it's a great way to use up leftover yarn bits.

Nat King Cole is playing in the background and what with all this talk about YheartsY and love, I'm swooning I tell ya! Swoon-ning!

I want to cast on for something, I'm thinking my Francis Revisited sweater. I know, I'm suppose to be knitting a scarf for February, but I'm just not feeling it. I don't need another scarf, i barely wear the scarf I have. Plus, I want to knit something BIG! Maybe I'll switch out my scarf for the sweater, I mean the goal to 12 in 2011 is to have 12 completed items in the year 2011 right?

Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered

Am I... Sorry, I adore that song and am listening to it as I type this.
What the world needs now, is a new Frank Sinatra, so I can get you in bed. Gotta love Cracker!
Wow! Thanks for listening to Radio A.D.D. all your favorites, all the time. jeeze! Moving right along... (come on, did you not see that coming? really?)

It smells like cinnamon in here. Does that mean I'm going to die? You know, like when you smell burnt toast or some wacky like that. Don't ask, ok, just don't. :p

Thimbles, that what I really want to talk about, not really. Stornoway socks, however, a completely different story! Dumb dumb that I can be, totally decided not to actually read the instructions from the heel on, so I totally didn't do the increases that I was suppose to do. Which would explain why the sock was tighterish than the first one, so I decided to frog it and start it over.

Still chugging away on the log cabin blanket. Almost done with the second side. Me thinks I may end up needing more yarn for the remaining 2 sides. So be it!

Is it naptime yet?

Like a Lost Angel

I was listening to Candy by my man Marty, the lyric, "Like a lost angel not longed for this world" struck a chord with me.

More often than not I feel lost in my own life. It seems like everyone else knows what they want, how to get it and how to keep it. Everyone else has a plan, and then there's me.

A friend told me once 'Problems are impossible to solve if you just focus on the problem. Solutions are possible if you accept they can be done and you are capable of doing it. ' (betcha didn't know I was friends with Tony Robbins*)

I try to live by that theory. Sometimes it's a struggle, you feel so weighed down by whatever the problem is, no matter how large or small, you think that you'll never be able to get up, but you do, and your stronger because of it, eventually.

*I'm not really friends with Tony Robbins, but seriously, how cool would it be if I was?

For the Record

I did not start the second Stornoway sock over.

I finished it.

purty huh?

Happy Blizzard of 2011

It's SNOWING!!!

And in honor of the snow, a little song.

I have been blessed with a snow day today. My intentions are to stay in bed, knit, watch season 5 of Dexter, drink tea and relax. I may go out every so often to catch a snowflake or 2 on my tongue and de-snow my car.

I am starting my Stornoway sock over, I think I added an extra cable repeat on the foot and for some reson, it's really bugging me.

This post is boring, I apologize for that.

A Story

Once upon a time there was a princess. She was unlike any other princess, this princess knit, and she knit everywhere around her kingdom. While the court jesters performed various things, comedies, tragedies & nonsense. Others thought the princess was odd for her knitting, feeling it was something that only old women did, but our princess dismissed these thoughts as foolish and laughed at these poor misguided fools.
The princess knit all sorts of things, a sweater, a few hats, a blanket and socks. Oh did our princess love to knit socks! She had a favorite pair that she wore whenever her royal tootsies got a chill.
One chilly, snowy day, our princess pulled out her favorite linen heeled socks, to put onto her royal tooties, when what did she discover? A HOLE! Yes, you read that correctly a hole at the bottom of the heel of her sock. The princess took a closer look, apparently our princess dropped a stitch.
So now our princess, has to learn how to darn a sock.

Hearts

I'm still knitting on my little hearts. I have about 36 hearts knit up, I'll have an offical count later this week. 12 out of the 36 are made with leftover sock yarn, unstuffed but sewn up, any non felted hearts from here on out will be stuffed with cotton balls to make them all purdy and fluffy.
The remaining 24 hearts are knit up from the noro leftover from my log cabin blanket, which I plan on stuffing and felting.

Each of my little hearts take me about 30 minutes each to complete, and I can usually get 2 out of the leftover Noro which is nice.

I'm excited and nervous about the Noro ones as I've never felted before. I'm usualy Silk Garden so I know it won't felt felt, but from what I've read, the stitches should fill out, I'll post pictures when the ones I have are felted. I have a lonely skein of Keyron in a pinky color, I think I may have to make some hearts out of it.

Money

I am not good with it. I pay my bills, for the most part on time. I'm trying, but it's hard. I have a budget recipe, I just don't understand it, I know what bills I have to pay and how much they are, so what's the point of a budget? I know, I have to put on my big girl pants and suck it up. I wish I could designate when my bills were due, the fact that they are all due at the same time, kills me.

If anyone has any advice on how to not be a financal f**k up, I'm listening.

Thanks!! =)

So...

I knit a short row... and I liked it. Well, I liked it once I learned how to execute it correctly (thanks youtube! you rock!!).

I have bangs, they are past the longish sexy stage and at the long annoying stage. This makes me sad, I do not feel I had enough time with the longish sexy bangs.

I am on the lookout for twinkle lights. Not just any twinkle lights the kind that hang like icicles (wow, that word just doesn't look like it's spelt right...but spellcheck says it is so we'll go with that). Where's a Harry's House of Twinkle Lights when you need it?

I have a new ipod, which I love, it's a touch, named Chester. I have the most bizarre playlist. Seriously weird. I'm kinda concerned.

Happy New Year!

It is offically 2011. A fresh start for a new year. My room is clean, my knitting organized, ok, just a couple of things but the closet is alot neater than it was so that's a win in my book.

I finished one of my stornoways sock. Ooooh, purdy.
I am at the ribbing stage of my BSG sock.
Also, I knit a heart before falling asleep last night, in Noro no less. It's pretty and pink. Granted I still have to weave in the ends, but I'm planning to stuff it, so, I can't weave till it's stuffed, so there :p

Meet my original monkey George. Now I've had George for years!! My big squishy. Here he is modeling my button hat. I got 2 little faux diamond flower buttons as I couldn't find my big button I got originally for the hat. I kinda like the flower buttons better anyway. (I'll try to get a close up of them)

Resolutions, everyone has them, here are mine:
  • Be a better blogger: that means post more of projects here, including pictures
  • Update my Ravelry project page: hey, I'm uploading pictures to here anyway, what's putting them somewhere else.
  • Knit 1,000 hearts: if a wish can be granted by 1,000 folded paper cranes, why not 1,000 knitted hearts?
  • Be a better person: I suck, I know this, let me 'splain. I'm a moody bitch, who on a bad day has the patience of a rabid pitbull. On a good day, I'm funny, pleasant, happy-go-lucky. My goal, have more good days and have less life rage.
  • Live my life for myself: Granted, you do have to take other people into consideration, and I understand that. But when you start to ignore what you want in favor of what others want then I think it's a problem. Yes I know, it's a smidge selfish and that's ok, it's allowed, like everything in moderation.
  • Get in touch with my inner Holly Go-Lightly: have the confidence I had when I was HS. The crazy one who took a belly dancing class on a whim, who maybe wasn't so crazy.
  • Not believe the hype and just be myself: I'm done caring what other people think of me (see above) If you like me, you like me, if not, your loss. I'm fabulous, I know it. :p
  • Knit more: I know right. I have my 12in2011 projects (will post those later) all set up, written down with the yarn I'll be using for each project. Using up stash yarn - yay me!
  • Swear less: I have the mouth of sailor on leave (no idea where that turn of phrase came from but I digress) now, this doesn't mean that if I stub my toe, I'm not going to drop the F-bomb, studies show that swearing helps the pain go away faster, I'm sure I read that somewhere....
  • The standards: Eat better, more fruits, veggies etc, drink more water, exercise etc.
  • Let go of my anger: Learn to forgive.
  • Have faith: In myself and in others. The older you get, the harder it seems to be to see the good in people and yourself.
  • More whimsy: twinkle lights, fairies, swinging on swings, catching snowflakes on my tongue, skipping down the street, running around barefoot in the grass. More silly, more fun.

That's all I got, all do-able I think. What are yours?
