2013 Sockdown!

Stretchy Sock
Every year I fail at my attempt to knit 12 pairs of socks in a year.  I love knitting socks, but I cannot get a pair done in a month, I'm sorry, it's just NOT happening. Now, I'm sure if I tried I could, but there are so many other things I want to knit too.  So, what I will do is this, on the idea of '12 socks' in 2012, I will knit 6 pairs of socks in a years time, that's 1 pair every 2 months.  They may be fancy, they may be plain, they may not even be for my tootsies.

I will also be knitting 1 short sleeve sweater out of stash yarn & 2 blankets out of half stash yarn, and a Walking Dead mini mania cowl.

I also need to desperately organize my yarny goodness.  It's a mess, a few skeins in one drawer, a few in another...you catch my drift.

I can't wait!!!

Gratitude for 2013

With the new year only a week away, I've been thinking about what my word of the year will be. Last year I stole Lacy's word of Nourish.  It served me well despite not doing all I wanted to do.  I stopped doing yoga, but I will be hopefully starting it back up again in the new year. I did not curb my caffeine addiction, but I will say, I haven't been drinking as much. The meatless thing never really took off.

I started knitting daily for enjoyment, I find that I get crabby if I don't get a couple of rows in. I still pray, though not as often as I did at the beginning of the year. I am eating more veggies. I've started exercising daily and surprisingly, I find it enjoyable.  All these small changes add up to a better, happier me.

I don't know what 2013 will hold in store for me, hopefully, more joy, peace, love, faith and gratitude.

My goal of 2013, to be grateful and to find beauty and goodness in everyday.

I grabbed some apps to help me start, a gratitude journal, a couple of quote (365 happy days & Buddha quotes)and a Buddha board.

I'll continue with the good habits I picked up this year and hopefully as the new year progresses, I'll have more good habits to add to my list.

What about you?

It's Franks World

We just live in it.

Those were the days man, at least they are in my head.

I do not have the Christmas spirit.  At all.  Not even a little.  Now I'm not sure if it's because I have to travel to Maine, and really, I just want to stay home.  Maybe it's because Christmas starts around Halloween now a days and I'm just sick of it.  I know I'm going to enjoy Christmas, it's my monkey butts first Christmas where he's aware of what going on, next year will be even more fun, with a belief in Santa Clause.  Perhaps a viewing of 'Miracle on 34th Street' is in order, I need something to bring back the Christmas magic.

I don't know. It sucks though.

A Hat & Some Shooting

Ruger & Revolver
M&P 15 22 Riffle

Wednesday we went to a target training class, we shot a riffle, a rugger & a revolver. Now, usually, I'm a Smith and Wesson 9mm girl (that's really all I know about the gun) It's my go to gun when we go to the range, but I gotta tell ya, I LOVED the Ruger, so light, no kick back, it was sweet. However, I was not a fan of the Revoler. I didn't mind shooting, not to heavy, wasn't difficult to shoot, it's just not something I would chose to shoot if given a choice.

The Riffle, that sweet little M&P 15 riffle. I enjoyed that most of all, probably because I was actually able to line up the sights and wasn't just aiming and hoping I hit the target. So, in normal every day life, I am a righty, expect where riffles are concerned, then I am a lefty. That was a little bizare for me, it went against my nature, but I did get a nice grouping shooting lefty with the riffle. :)

And that about covers the gun portion of the this blog.

sleepy pamda

Made a hat for the boy, it fits and he wears it so I am pleased.  It took me about a week to complete, knitting on it, here and there while watching t.v.  I got it finished just in time for it to turn really cold.  (there's a rumor that there might be snow)

Going to make a smaller version for my handsome little nephew with the left over malabrigo.  Ya, the 1 yr old's getting the good stuff, what can I say, he's cute and I love him.

I must admit, I miss Doug when it snows, I have no idea why, he's not a snow person, we never really went out and played in the snow or anything, I just miss him, and holing our cozy little home.

My ex hubby, did the greatest thing for me when we were first married, it was the first real snow fall of the winter, he woke me up and told me it snowed and to get dressed, which I did and we walked to the park up the street and swung on the swings.  So simple and so sweet, my 3 favorite things.

Anywho, I'm going on and on.

Who Remembers Mix Tapes?

actual mix tape from my youth
I found 4, mix tapes while cleaning out my storage unit last month.  Bruce actually has a tape deck (and a lighter), I tried to insert the tape but he spit it out in disgust moments later. What was I to do? Then, I remembered, the woman whose job I now have, left me a radio, with a tape deck.  Guess whose rocking out to some D.R.I.? this girl.

Damn it! I recorded over side 1. Stupid, stupid, stupid girl.

Side B rocks though.  My first metal mix, (thanks Chris, you rock! I'd totally make out with you now) the songs that shaped me me into the twisted little girl ya'll love.

Rock on my friends \m/

GRRRRRRRRRRR

I finished my super awesome Knotty but Nice Hat, and by finished I mean, ran out of yarn.  Ya, super pissed. So gonna frog it (sheds small tear) and start over on smalled needles, because that will solve the problem right?

So sad.

Winter...

Here's the scarf, all rolled up so you can see the texture (and the mistake, which is glaring at me) and the start of Knotty hat. The hat I am using some mystery yarn for and I forgot how much cables eat up yarn, so I'm praying I have enough to finish it with. So if you could please throw a couple of good thoughts up the the Knitting Goddess that I will be able to finish the hat, I would appreciate it. :)

FO's!

So, I finished my driving gloves and I've used them, they keep my hands toasty on the oh so cold steering wheel and I can still adjust the volume on the ipod. :)

I also gifted G his birthday/Christmas scarf from 2 years ago.  It was laziness on my part.

I am almost down with the Infinity Cowl, which I will gift to my mom as she said she liked the color and would like one.  Hopefully, I'll have that finished tonight so I'll be able to concentrate on Franks sweater and the Squish.

OMG! The squish, I have to tink back an entire repeat, so I can do the fancy make a hole in the middle thing which I forgot about.  PAMDA SMASH!

In other news, I've gone through 3 seasons of 30 Rock, thanks to Netflix, this past weekend.  That can't be healthy.

Annie Oakley I am not.

I went to the gun range on Sunday.  It was totally my idea too.  I shot a nice little 9mm and 1 round off a large shot gun type weapon.  I am embarrassed to say that when the shotgun went off, I screamed like, well, a girl.
Look how well I did shooting though! (sorry the photos are blurry and not not of knitting)
see that hole in the middle, all me!

i aim to the left, no idea why.  small cluster up top, not me.

Knitting!

Still working on the cowl, my mother has shown interest in it, so I will gift it to her, and I just finished the ribbing on the Knotty hat. :)

The most underrated snack cake in the world

Hostess needs a Christmas miracle.  They will be closing their factories and doors soon.  That means no more Sno Balls.  Yes, ladies and gentleman, my favorite hostess product is the sno ball.  You can keep your twinkies, cupcakes and apple pies, actually, the apple pies are pretty stellar but I'll always have a soft spot for the lovely chocolate cake with marshmellow and pink coconut covering.

And now onto the knitting portion of the program.

I am still chugging away on my cowl, as I haven't really knit on it.  A dear friend of mine was going thru something and I had sympathy stress (It has since resolved itself.) and when I am stressed I don't knit.  Only a couple of more rows of the 3x2 ribbing, then the fun begins! 4 rows of knit, 4 rows of purl...weeeeee.

I've cast on for the Knotty but Nice hat for my friend Dale, in Cascade sport superwash, navy blue color.  I had orginally bought the yard to make something for my little monkey butt, but I only got 3 skeins, not enough.  This is why yarn shopping without a plan is a bad thing, learn from my error people, always shop with a plan, if not you'll have odd about skeins that you stare at and go, WTF am I going to do with this amount? When the pattern calls for this amount? GRRRR

If your feet are your dogs, (my dogs are barking) what are your knees? are they also dogs, cause if so, my knee dogs are BARKING!

a tribute to my guardian angel

I've had many people come into my life at a time when I desperately needed someone.  One, who I refer to as 'my secret keeper'.  We met in 94, on Prodigy, shortly after Kurt Cobain killed himself, he told a bad joke, I got all butt hurt and a great friendship was born.  We talked, wrote letters, he even came out for a visit, 627 miles, a trip I have yet to reciprocate.

He gave me the strength to break up with my boyfriend at the time, he was the first person that I told when my daddy passed away.  I remember it, I sent him some lyrics to a song with the words 'he's gone' at the end.  We lost touch, like people who meet at a young age do.  Life happens, but, certain songs, would make me think of him.

After 18 years of silence, 18 years of failed attempts to locate one and other, one  random, beautiful day in June, he found me, again, when I needed desperatly needed someone, someone to remind me of who I use to be, that playful, free spirited, alive, babbling girl.  I missed being that girl, funny thing is, I didn't realize she was gone.

It's been close to a year since we last spoke, life happens.  Maybe another 18 years will pass before we speak again, if we ever speak again, but I take comfort in the fact that he is out there at the other end of my red string.

And I'll do anything you ever
dreamed to be complete
Little pieces of nothing that fall

I am in a funk, that little piece of hope is gone.
I need a starry sky with a million falling stars to wish upon.

Ya, Ya, Ya...

I know.

Still no pictures of these "fingerless gloves" I supposedly knit.  I still have to weave in the ends. Sorry, no cookie for me.

"If you want to know where your heart lies, look where your mind wanders.”

I don't know who said this, but it's been around a lot lately, and I have to wonder if there's any truth to it.

I would like to think there is, but, if that's the case I wonder about where my mind wanders. It goes here, there and everywhere, like an unsupervised 4 year old in a toy store.

I wonder where other people's minds wander to, if their mind wanders to me.  I mostly wonder this of the one who has my minds attention.  It's doubtful. My head knows this, my heart however is always last to admit defeat.

C'est La Vie.

NaBloPoMo 2012

'Join us for thirty days of blogging! There’s no word limit and no set topic, just the goal of at least one blog post per day and the threat of righteous shaming to keep you on the wagon.'

So, ya, I joined that.  It's hard for me to do on the weekends oddly enough.

Remember way back when I said I was gonna start exercising? Ya, I finally started.
I'm on week 2 day 1 of the Ease into 5K program.
today's stats
So far I like it.  I do the program Mon., Wed. & Fri. and I do the evil elliptical on Tues. & Thurs.

I do have a finished object, pictures tomorrow!

I wish I had more to say.

Don't Bring Me Down Bruce

Dr. Bruce Banner

Our first passenger
I named my little ravioli the Hulks human counterpart.

Bruce and I have been getting to know one and other.  It's a slow process.  I'm getting use to his little quirks and sounds, he's getting use to my singing and talking to myself and him.   Louie, I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship.

OH! sidenote: Saturday I brought Kermie to the place where they do unspeakable things. He refused to start, gods love him, my Kermie did not want to leave me.   My heart broke all over again. There were tears, from sadness, frustration and tiredness.

10 Questions

My fisherman friend and I were chatting over email and James Lipton came up, although I think he called him Robert, who is a person, no relation however.  It was decided that we would each answer Jim's 10 question list. Here are my answers:

1.What is your favorite word? Whimsical

2.What is your least favorite word? Twat
3.What turns you on creatively, spiritually or emotionally?
4.What turns you off? Stupidity
5.What is your favorite curse word? Fuck
6.What sound or noise do you love? Growling
7.What sound or noise do you hate? Thunder
8.What profession other than your own would you like to attempt? Lawyer
9.What profession would you not like to do? Politician
10.If Heaven exists, what would you like to hear God say when you arrive at the Pearly Gates? You are forgiven

New Plan!

I love it when I decide to make a plan, it's sticking to it that I have a hard time with.
So, it's October, only 2 short months away from Christmas and New Years Eve, which is what I am planning for, the new year, I'm just wacky like that.

So, in the past I have set up a self imposed sock club, and well, you know what they say about the best laid plans of mice and all.  2013 however will be different, DIFFERENT I say! I will pick out 6 sock yarns and 6 patterns and put them into cute zip lock bags for the year.  I tend to knit socks at work when I'm done eating lunch, so I figure 2 months for a pair of socks should be fine.

Hopefully I will have a nice little stash of handknit socks to brag about this time next year.

Now to finish up all the WIP's I have floating about.  hee hee

Kemie, my love

Kermie 1996-2012

My Kermie has been my greatest companion, The Doctor to my Rose Tyler, my ride, my hooptie, my love.  He is the longest relatioship I've had.  We have been through a lot my Kermie and me, marriage, divorce, countless moves.

Now, he's tired and wants to rest.  He's had a tough life, I wasn’t always a good owner, going a little too long between oil changes, or not fixing something right away because funds were tight, he took very good care of me and I took care of him as best I could.  He was always there for me, getting me home, always keeping me safe.
He was and is a very loved little honda. My little Kermie Kerm will be reduced to scrap metal and spare parts.  I know he’s just a car, but I’m truly goning miss him.

Fall

It's Fall! My second favorite time of year, the beginning of snuggle weather.
It's getting darker earlier, chilly mornings and even chillier nights.  Cold cider and warm donuts. Fires in the firepit or fireplace. Warm wooly sweaters.  It's wonderful, the fall.

Lots of knitting to be done, the squish, the scarf and a mystery baby project to be determined, probably an owly vest and some tall socks for me (one down, one to go!)

a post with no piccies...shocking!

I have been working on G's Merry Christmas birthday scarf and that's about it.
Seriously.
Although, I bought a spindle and some fiber.  BUT WAIT! There's more! I also signed up for a drop spindle class. WEEEEEE

That's about it.

The Squish is on hold for a little bit, a little too sad to work on it, as it's recipient and I are not speaking at the moment.  I am sad, I could use his advice right now but mostly I miss him, our random conversations, the way he answered the phone with a Yo, or a hey baby, the silly voicemails he'd leave. Oh well.

On a happier note, my sweet little monkey butt, is turning 1.
Can you believe it was almost a year ago that I met the most important little guy in my life, my handsome little nephew.  He's such a mischievous little imp.

Stats

I just viewed mine, and now I am confused.
Such is life.

2 more days until the Cavemas begins! I CANNOT WAIT!

It's going to be me, the kitties, The Doctor, probably some Daleks bc those bastards NEVER DIE and a spidey Christmas stocking.

The Squish is coming along, as is the Christmas in October scarf, I should be done with that by Friday night :D I'll be sure to take pictures of it.

I cannot compose a thought at the moment.  I try and then *poof* it's gone.

Knit Happy

It's almost Cavemas time!!  WEEE!!!

So, I got the good Doctor to keep me company, I have lots of yummy yarn and I also have wine :D happy pamda.

G's Christmas in October scarf is almost done, the Squish will never be done, of this I am certain.  I think I'm going to start a Spidey Christmas stocking, because I am insane.  I am also, going to knit a pair of socks for a certain someone, as part of a 12 days of Christmas gift, cause I'm a dork like that, now I just gotta think of 11 other things.

I am bad at posting pictures, I apologize for that.  I will try to post more.

Cavemas

I am due for a Cavemas.  Soon, me hopes.

Just me, my kitties, my knitting and some t.v.

This will be happening in September.  I cannot wait.

I really have been knitting

I just have nothing to show for it.

I currently have on the needles the following items:

1. Ginger, a tank top I started for the Ravellenic Games.  I have the front and half the back complete
2. Franks Sweater.  Ya, still working on that.
3. Squish for the Fisherman.  I anticipate a lot of knitting on that in September when the weather starts to cool down more. I knit on this at knitting on Saturdays.
4. Gj's Christmas Scarf.  He requested one almost 2 years ago and I just found a good yarn to knit it up in.  100% baby alpaca as Mr. G is allergic to wool.  I actually got the yarn during the yarn crawl in March, I am about 50% done with this.  It's what I knit on when I don't have have the attention span for a pattern and what I usually knit on at the Saturday knitting group.

In other news, I watched my little monkey butt a few days last week. The little stinker tried to eat my big toe.  Three times.  He's a cheeky little monkey that kid.

At work sock knitting:

I am at the heel decrease on another pair of tall socks with the after thought leg. Once I get this pointy heel situation under control, this will be my favorite way to knit a tall sock.

I still love my heel gussets don't get me wrong, but I like those on top down socks.  It's less confusing for me that way.

One day, I will put up pictures of knitted things, I promise.

Gone Fishing

Not even joking, I actually went fishing.

The fisherman invited me to his house to fish, much to my surprise and his, I said yes.

The day started, we hung out on the hammock, went grocery shopping, I made him much anticipated meatballs and sauce, which he devoured the following week, which pleased my inner nonna.  He got burger supplies and made me his famous burgers for dinner.  You cannot beat a good burger and beer in the summer.  The best part, was dessert, he made key lime pie, from scratch, because it's my favorite. OMG! SO GOOD.  I wish I had taken him up on his offer to take some home.  I will not make that mistake again.

Back to the fishing.  We got the boat loaded on the truch, we drove to the lake and I fly-fished for the very first time and I only hit myself in the arm with the fly once and him in his foot once.  YAY!

No knitting, but a wonderful day with a wonderful fisherman.

and yes, my cdo is going nutsy over this, but alas there is nothing i can do about the miss matchy of the top stripes.  i just need to get over it.

Sleeve

During my last let's-liberate-crap-from-storage heist, i brought home my now ex FiLs sweater.  It's been sitting in my closest for a week or 2 and yesterday, being Father's Day, I thought it fitting to start up on it again.  Sadly, I don't think I'll be giving it to Frank, honestly I don't know who will get it, but I want to finish it, for Frank and strangely for my dad.

The left sleeve of DOOOOM!

Franks Sweater of Doom

It really isn't a sweater of doom, it's actually quite delightful to work on, well, from what I remember.  I started this lone sweater for Frank, my now ex father in law, in 2004 when the Red Sox were in their first play off's for the World Series.  It was going to be a Christmas present, then Father's day, then Christmas again.  Then my husband and I got divorced, and into storage the sweater went.  When I was living with Doug, I decided to knit on it a bit and got the second sleeve done.  Then it went back into hibernation.  I was debating frogging the sweater and reclaiming the yarn, but, I put so much time and most importantly love, into the sweater, I just couldn't do it.
I finally rescued it from storage, where it's been living for far to long.  I'm determined to finish it, hopefully by the time the Ravelympics start.
I don't know who will be the lucky recpient of the sweater. I would love for my brother to get it, but, it won't fit him, nor will it fit my oldest nephew Christopher.

I'm *this* close to finishing my tall socks, one more night of t.v. knitting and they should be done.  :)

New Subjects of Yarnia

Bohemia Fibers Barefoot Bohemian Sock Yarn.
I think I mentioned before that I joined a Ravelry yarn club whose colors are inspired by The Walking Dead.

My first shipment, A Boy and His Bow, is a beautiful blue/green/tan color

.
The second shipment, The Walker is a Rocker, is jewley blues and purples.

A tall sock

I have knit a tall sock. It is about mid calf, not as tall as I thought it would be but it is tall and would make a nice boot sock.  Now to get me some boots.

My only issue is that I am not cool enough to not care about my stripes matching.  I think I rigged it so that they won't be too far off.

These were made using Turtlegirl76's afterthought leg pattern.

Lottery

Way back when, I vowed to play the lottery once a week.  I believe it was a resolution of mine.  Thing is, I don't smoke, therefore I don't stop off at places where they sell lottery tickets that often.  I do play when the powerball is big and someone at the office askes for $5, and aside from the odd scratch ticket I don't really play.

Maybe next years day I'll buy $52 one dollar scratch tickets and scratch one a week.  Might make life a little easier.  :)

A Drink

this my friends is a yummy concoction my friend Dale made for me last friday night.  It's summer in a glass with a little vodka for kicks. Really it's just ice, vodka (however much you'd like) ginger ale (i use diet) and a splash of pomergranite juice. So cool and refreshing.  I will be drinking these this weekend, it's been one of those weeks.

My very tall socks are coming along well, however, I kinda mucked up the increases so I need to rip back a whole bunch of rows and increase the right way.  Such is the way the sock ball rolls ya dig?

What's your favorite summer time drink?

Possessed

Driving to work one day whilst listening to the Knitmore Girls, The Otter, went all possessed and started to play, I kid you not, "Rockin Around the Christmas Tree".  Now at this certain point in the road, I am use to the radio going all willy nilly & wonked out, too many frequencies or something, I don't know.  But CHRISTMAS music?  It's frakkin May.  Seriously?  What station is playing Christmas music in May that I would have picked up?  (and no that song is not on my Otter, as I am not a fan of it, I blame the 8th grade)
So that is my story.
:)

Goals

Short term goal: to take an online course to be a legal secretary

Long term goal: to get a job at a law firm & possibly become a paralegal

Short term goal: save money so that I can do this next year (it's about $1000) if there's yarn that I want, put the money aside into my "college fund" account, yarn will always be there, maybe not the color I want, but that's what birthdays & Christmas is for right?

Long term goal: continue to save money bc well it's the smart thing to do.  (once school is settled, save a little for a 'fun fund' too)

So, that's that.  It'll be hard.  I sometimes like to get all spendy whe I shouldn't.  Which is why I tend to avoid the malls.

Knitting!!

I need to redo my heel toe.  It's too pointy.  Methinks a 3 needle bind off might be best in this situation.

It's a bird...It's a plane....

<---- heel

It's a two toed sock!

<---- toe

I can't wait till it's finish them.

This may be my new favorite way to knit socks.  Although I do still love a good ol heel flap.
Maybe I'll just use this method for knee high socks.

I wish I was a duck

It's the third day of rain.  Which, to be honest, I don't really mind.  I do enjoy the rain a bit more in the summer, I'm already barefoot most of the time so it makes puddle jumping that much easier.  I actually haven't puddle jumped in a while.  I'll have to fix that, it's fun.

I finished the toe heel, teel? toel?  and am now opening up the part where I had the waste yarn.   I didn't close up the toel because, honestly, I'm not sure I knit the foot long enough.  We shall see!

Wednesday, May 9, 2012

Well, what do we have here...

It's a sock.  Actual knitting! And a picture!
Amazing!

I am actually at the second toe/heel decrease now.  once that's completed I'll show you.

So far so good.  :D

Or Not

I'm impatiently awaiting my Boy and his Bow yarn.  Silly USPS hasn't updated the tracking information so, no new pictures.

However, I'll be trying something new this weekend, and afterthought leg.  I know right!  Looks easy and I've been reassured that it is in fact as easy as it looks.  I am still skeptical.  I'll be trying it tomorrow and will let you know how it works out.

The Postman Always Rings Twice...

I got some pretty yarn in the mail today.  It's from BohemiaFibers, she is a wonderful dyer.
It's a Trunk Yarn.  The color was a mystery, but, I couldn't be more pleased with it.  Blues, tans, greens, maroon.  It's fall, in a sock yarn.  Perfect & soft.
She has made a yarn club based on The Walking Dead, that I have joined.  I should be recieving the first installment tomorrow! :)  A Boy & His Bow.  A beautiful tan, blue & sea green color based on the one & only Daryl Dixon.

I will also be getting some mini skeins in other various Walking Dead inspired hues.
I can't wait to get them!!  I was originally going to make hexi blanket, but there are SO.MANY.ENDS!  So, I am making a mini mania scarf.  I can't wait.

whoa

Holy new blogger batman!
I didn't think I was gone that long, with, so many changes.

The question you're all dying to ask...'Where in the world have I been?'
Packing.  Packing has become my life, or close to it.  So, no knitting, new or otherwise.

I'm still playing on Ravelry, in fact, with the 2012 Olympics coming around in July, the buzz of the Ravelympics has started!  I of course joined, on the The Knitting Dead thread (ha ha that rhymed) and am now team captain!  We're up to almost 70 people on our team, if you want to join feel free, no knitter left behind!

I joined a 3 month yarn club, for The Walking Dead (TWD), and let me tell ya I can't wait to get my first installment, the colors are beautiful!!!

and then there's the mini skein I'll be getting...also TWD themed.  Soon, I will have a TWD sock blanket to snuggle with when the ZA hits.  I can't wait.

What's new with everyone?

Fork you bitches!!!

So, my friend and I had a little date, dinner and a dvd.  We went to our regular chinese food place.  Usually, I, being the talented creature that I am, will balance a spoon on my nose, seriously, I do this everywhere, prom, my wedding, other people's weddings, it's my schtick or however you spell that.  I post them, people comment, we laugh, "oh that Pam and her nose..."!    One comment: always a spoon, why not try something other than a spoon?  Then the gaunlet was thrown and the CHALLENGE ACCEPTED!

So my lovely friends here, is a Pammy with a fork on her nose.

and for the record, my hair is not purple, my phone just makes it that color.

Still no knitting to report.  Chez Sleeping Si will be moving at the end of the month, so there has been packing.

Let's Get Ready To RUMBLE!!!

My ex-hubby, Davey baby and ex-BiL, Mikey's band The Rationale's are in WZLX's 2012 Rock n' Roll Rumble!

I am super excited and stupid proud of them.  They are living the dream and I wish them so much luck on Sunday!  I wish they were going on earlier so I could go and cheer them on instead of just cheering them on in spirit.   If you are a night owl, please go cheer The Rationale's on!

Today

Today I am feeling insecure and tired.  I have no reason for either of these feelings, but they are there.
Today I am feeling unsettled.  The house is back up on the market, this always makes me feel unsure.

Today I wish I had a better job.

Today I will go home and knit on my friend GJ's scarf and eventually I will fix Mal on the Firefly piece and be done with it to be honest, I just miss knitting.

Today I will be optimistic that things will get better, I will get a better job and it will be one I will love.  I will not always feel insecure & unsettled.  I will optimistic that good things will come my way, because I am worthy of them despite my past mistakes and regrets.

St. Patty's Day Yarn Crawl! (pictures tomorrow)

This year Yarn Crawl weekend was also St. Patrick's Day weekend! I think it was Thursday-Sunday.  Oh my!  I didn't crawl until Saturday, and even then I only went to 2 shops.  My goal was to go to 2 new shops and not to buy a lot.  I did both, yay me.

I went to a lovely shop in Winchester where I got 2 skeins of Malabrigo Rios, for a lovely scarf for myself, as well as 4 skeins of some Alpaca yarn for my friend G's scarf and I mean want him to be warm in the winter, and the yarn was 20%off...and so soft and squishy, I had no choice really, I'm sure you understand.

The only issue with super soft alpaca yarn is that it can't be tossed into the wash, which is fine, I will take care of laundering it for him.

I also went to a shop in Melrose, which was nice as well, kinda close to closing time, so I'll have to go back to get a real feel of the store.  There I got 2 skeins of blue cascade  superwash 220 sport.  Gonna knit my little monkey butt an owls vest.

And that my friend is all she wrote, because she, meaning me, is tired.  :D

Remember me?

I use to post here...HI!

I haven't been knitting.  At all.  I've been a lazy lump on the couch or working on the secret project which techinically is done, I just have to redo 1 tiny thing.

Mal is a little too close to Inara, although I doubt he'd mind.
So, that, my friends is what has been sucking up my knitting time.

Mwah-ha-ha

It's SNOWING!
my excitement could ravel the little kid whose "too excited to sleep" in the Disney commercials.
I LOVE SNOW!

My secret project has taken over my life.  I am hoping to be done with it either tonight or Friday, and when it is done, I will show ya'll a picture of it!

Sadly there has been NO KNITTING.  I don't know how I feel about it.  It's been making me want to play in Yarnia and organize it a bit.  Maybe this weekend.

A Tribute to Felix

felix the kitty
This is felix the kitty.  He was my now ex-boyfriends cat and friend, the way pets are for years before I met him.  Felix was a handsome little guy.  So sweet and mellow, I think I nicknamed him "the Dude".  He was always down to cuddle and snuggle.  Sadly, we had to put sweet Felix down on August 18th, 2008.

If I was cooking, Felix was underfoot with me in the kitchen or on one of the chairs.  Usually if he was on the chair I'd go over and give him little head kisses, which were always met with purrs and head butts.  We had Felix creamated and placed in a black urn, with a silver band around the top.  Being that Felix was always in the kitchen with me, I asked if we could put him in the kitchen.  He was placed on the partition above the stove, watching over the dinners I cooked and keeping me company in the kitchen the way he always did.

When I moved in my kitties met Felix for the first time.  Lila was not pleased and she was not afraid to let him know it.  Lila for the most part hung out in the back bedroom, she's weird, but when she was hungry she would come out, run up on Felix, hiss and swat at him and run away.  Felix just sat there with a 'really?' face.  (ya'll know the face) Sirius and Felix were indifferent to each other, both willing to share my lap, one on my lap the other on my legs.  Close, but not too close.  Every so often they'd be napping on the rectangular coffee table each head and body facing a different corner butts together.  V <--kinda like that.

We had 1 A/C, in the living room, and 2 couches.  His and hers if you will.  I remember one day, in July, I think, where I was awoken to Felix laying on my chest trying to eat my hair.  I later learned what he was actually was grooming me.

Felix has been on my mind allot lately.  I'm not sure what that means, if anything, or the reason for it, if there is one.  But he has been and I wanted to honor it and him with a little post.

and now i am sitting here, crying, missing a kitty i only knew for a short period of time.

Believe in those you love

or at least that's what my Dove chocolate wrapper said.

I've been feeling funky lately, I think it may be the stress of the party, which thankfully will be done this weekend.

My super secret cross stitch pattern has been coming along swimmingly.

I finished my fisherman friend's hat and, this is the best part, IT FIT!  I swear I heard a chorus of angels singing when he put it on and it covered his ears.

I got my hairs done did it's darker & purpley :)
What do ya'll do to get out of your funks?

Where have I been...

No where exciting!
I was sick with a cold last week, which means early bed night for me.  I am much better and no longer feel or look like death.  So that's a WIN!

Somewhere in the midst of being sick I became a Loopie Groupie!!  ::muppet arms!::

I finished my log cabin blanket.  Finally.  I still have to tuck in a couple of ends and lightly block it, but I'm still calling it DONE!

Upon searching the all knowing Ravelry, I've decided that all sleeves on the baby jacket look wonky.  So, I'm just gonna sew on a snap, add a decorative button and gift it to my little man in a couple of weeks.  :D

Other than that, I'm working on my Garden Grids & my second BSG sock...which might turn into my Caprica sock.  Fitting no?

Chupacabra

I love that word.  I also love that that word will randomly pop into my head, well that and velociraptor, which I cannot pronounce unless someone says it first.
Just being honest.

So, it's snowing!!

That is all.

I won the...

lottery....the yarn lottery!  That's right, I somehow managed to snag a skein of a certain coveted yarn from Germany.  That's right, Wollmeiser sock yarn.  Ya, I don't know how I did it either.

Where there once were...

1 and 1/2 socks

there are now 2 balls

Hopes & Wishes for 2012

2010 was a bad year, looking back on it, I was depressed, not horribly so, but enough.
2011 was all about healing myself, trying to make myself better.
2012 going to be about nourishing myself.  (I'm stealing this idea from Lacylike, a blog I started to read a couple of months ago and who inspires me in little ways.)

I've started praying, reading again & yoga, all things that feed my well being.
I may even try to kick my horrible caffeine habit, ok, who am I kidding, that will never happen, but I am going to cut down my 3 a day cup habit to 1 cup a day, as master Yoda says, do or do not, there is no try.
I may even give 'Meatless Mondays' a go.  Now, I'm not going vegetarian or anything like that, I love steak far to much for that, but once a week eat something healthy, with no meat, I think I can do that.

That is what I am hoping for myself for 2012.  What about you?

Shiny

I hope ya'll had a wonderful New Years Eve!

I spent New Years Eve and New Year Day getting my geek on watching Firefly & Serenity.   Ya, I know, I'm a bit behind on the coolness that is Firefly, but I'm hep to it now.

So far the new year has started off crabby.  I'm sad by this, because I so wanted to start the new year off happy & well, not crabby.  Being that we're only 4 days in, there's still hope!

Finally, I'm happy to report that I am on the last leg of my log cabin blanket that I started way back when.  Last side, sadly, it's a long side.  Like, knit a row and you're done for the night long.

It's ok though, I have a couple other secret squirrel projects in the wings I can play with.  ;)

2012

Nickie: Don't you think life should be gay and bright a bubbly like champagne?
Terry: I like pink champagne.
Nickie: Yes, that's the kind I mean – pink champagne. Now is there any reason why from now on, this trip shouldn't be pink champagne?
~ An Affair to Remember

And from now, that is what I want my life to be like bright and bubbly.

Happy New Year!! May your year be like pink champagne!
